Mass & Weight

LEARNING OUTCOMES : By the end of the lesson students should be able to… State that mass is a measure of the quantity of matter in an object at rest relative to the observer State that weight is a gravitational force on an object that has mass Define gravitational field strength as force per unit mass; recall and use the equation g = W/m and know that this is equivalent to the acceleration of free fall Know that weights (and masses) may be compared using a balance Describe, and use the concept of, weight as the effect of a gravitational field on a mass

Worksheet on Mass, Weight & Density

Density

The mass of an object is the amount of matter it is made of. Mass is measured in kilograms. Density is a property of material. It tells us how concentrated its mass.

Reproduction

Reproduction means producing new living organisms. Animals and plants reproduce to make new individuals of the same species. There are two types of reproduction: asexual and sexual reproduction. View complete notes on the topic "Reproduction" from the PDF file below.

Transport in animals

The blood, pumped by the heart, travels all around the body in blood vessels. It leaves the heart in arteries and returns in veins. Valves, present in the heart and veins, ensure a one-way flow for the blood. As blood enters an organ, the arteries divide into smaller arterioles, which supply capillaries. In these vessels the blood moves much more slowly, allowing the exchange of materials such as oxygen and glucose, carbon dioxide, and other wastes. Blood leaving an organ is collected in venules, which transfer it on to larger veins. View complete notes on the topic "Transport in animals" from the PDF file below.

Organisation of the organism

The CELL is the smallest unit of life that can carry on all the processes of life. Cells contain a variety of internal structures called organelles. An organelle is a cell component that performs specific functions for the cell. All living cells arise from pre-existing cells by division.
